PowerPot: A Portable Pan that converts Heat into Electrical Energy

A US company has created a device capable of using heat from a fire to power USB devices. Named as PowerPot, it is a new portable energy source capable of powering all kinds of USB devices, using thermoelectric power generation system that is placed in the bottom position of the pan.

This new take on a lightweight backpacking pot will provide electricity anywhere, anytime, using any fuel, such as propane, gas, or open wood fires, making it perfectly suited for outdoor recreation, emergency preparedness, and developing nations where people lack access to electricity.

A physical phenomenon known as thermoelectric power (TEP) is what transforms the heat of your campfire to electricity. The driving force causing the electricity to flow is the temperature difference between the bottom side of the PowerPot (on the flame) and the inside of the pot (holding the ice, snow, or liquid water).

The PowerPot is a 5-15 watt electrical generator that is capable of charging any USB device. It is waterproof, fire-resistant, and extremely portable, weighing in at just 12 ounces. Currently available in two sizes, PowerPot V and PowerPot X, the 5 watt generator PowerPot V is sold at a price of $ 149.
